From the wonderful summer of 1964, "People" was Barbra Streisand's first hit record. The single peaked at #5 on the Billboard pop chart and spent three weeks at #1 on the Easy Listening chart. The song, from the Broadway musical Funny Girl, written by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, was included in the album of the same name recorded by Barbra Streisand for Columbia Records and released in September 1964. The song and album were arranged and conducted by Peter Matz.. I dedicate this to Leona.
